| Existen seis especies de Garza Tigre, y deben su nombre a sus plumas rayadas. Conocemos muy poco de ellas, ya que tienden a ser animales tímidos que huyen de los humanos. La Mexicana es quizá la más visible de todas las Tigres. Sin embargo,es unanimal solitario que no forma colonias como lo hacen las otras garzas, ni siquiera para reproducirse. También es nocturna,lo cual dificulta aún más su estudio. Sus nidos son plataformas relativamente planas enárboles cercanos al agua,en los que ponen 2 o 3 huevos verdes. En México está Sujeta a Protección Especial. |

| Named for their striped feathers, there are six species of Tiger Heron worldwide. Not much is know about them, as they tend to be shy creatures that flee from human contact. Also known as the Mexican Tiger Heron, the Bare Throated is perhaps the most visible of the Tiger Herons. Still, it is a solitary animal and does form colonies as do other herons, not even for mating. It is also a nocturnal hunter, making it even harder to study. Their relatively flat nests, with 2 or 3 greenish eggs, are usually found in trees near water. In Mexico this species is Subject to Special Protection. |
