| La tricolor es la única garza de color oscuro con vientre blanco. Su pecho es rojizo y el resto del cuerpoes de un tono gris azulado. Llega a medir unos 56 cm de largo, 96 cm entre punta y punta de las alas y a pesar unos 350 gramos. Al igual que con otras garzas, ambos macho y hembra cooperan en la construcción del nido y el cuidado de sus crías. A veces se les puede ver corriendo en aguas someras, persiguiendo su presa. |

| The tricolored is the only dark bodied heron with a white belly. Its breast is reddish while the rest of its body is a bluish gray.It can measure around 56 cm in length, have a wingspan of 96 cm and weigh up to 350 grams. As with other herons,both male and female work together to build the nest and raise their young. They are occasionally seen running in shallow waters, chasing their prey. |
