| Este es el Zopilote más abundante de las Américas, y su rango se extiende desde Canada hasta Patagonia. A diferencia del Zopilote Negro, no ataca a presa viva. Se alimenta de carroña y prefiere los mamíferos recién muertos, pero también se alimentan de los cadáveres de peces, reptiles, anfibios y hasta otras aves. Aunque es un ave social, prefiere comer solo. Incluso cuando se ven grupos alrededor de un cadáver, normalmente toman turnos alimentándose. Viven hasta 30 años en cautiverio, y cerca de la mitad de eso en estado silvestre. |

| This is the most abundant vulture of the Americas, and its range extends from Canada to Patagonia. Unlike the Black Vulture, it rarely attacks live prey. It feeds on carrion and prefers recently deceased mammals, though it will also feed on carcasses of fish, reptiles, amphibians and other birds. Though it is a social bird, it prefers to feed alone. Even when seen in groups around a cadaver, they normally take turns feeding. They can live up to 30 years in captivity and about half that in the wild. |
