Monitoring in Xcalak Marine Park

At the end of May, Lucy Gallagher, our Marine Projects Director, was once again invited by the the Comisión Nacional de Areas Naturales Protegidas (CONANP), to join in the monitoring efforts in Xcalak. Lucy was based at the Xcalak Marine Park’s field station along with field scientists from CONANP and Oceanus. The monitoring team conducted coral and fish surveys as part of a regional monitoring program coordinated by the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System project (MBRS) and were pleased to see that the reef was in very healthy condition and teeming with life this year.
