| Aunque es mas probable ver un Ocelote que un Jaguar, no es común verles. Son solitarios y nocturnos, y se alimentan de animales pequeños y de huevos. Viven hasta 20 años, y se encuentran desde el Sur de EUA hasta el Norte de Argentina. Aunque puedan parecer tan lindos y amigables como un gato doméstico, no lo son. Conozco una pareja que intentó adoptar una cría que encontraron abandonada, con resultados desastrosos. Tras varios días de arañasos y mordidas que necesitaron de atención médica, lo regresaron a la selva. Aunque a nivel internacional no se le considera amenazada, en México está en Peligro de Extinción |

| Although you are likelier to see an Ocelot than a Jaguar, it is not a common animal to sight. They are solitary and nocturnal, and feed on small animals and eggs. They can live up to 20 years, and are found from the Southern US to Northern Argentina. Although they may seem cute and friendly as a house cat, they are not. I know a couple that tried adopting a kitten they found abandoned, with disastrous results. After a few days of bites and scratches that required medical attention, they returned it to the jungle. Though internationally it is not threatened, in Mexico it is an Endangered species. |
