| Existen cerca de 40 especies distintas de tucanes, todas nativas a los trópicos Americanos. Su enorme pico puede medir hasta un tercio de la longitud de su cuerpo. Se alimentan principalmente de fruta, pero también de insectos, lagartijas, ranas y huevos de otras aves. Forman grupos de hasta 12 individuos a los que se les puede ver saltando de rama en rama. No se sabe con certeza cuanto viven en estado silvestre, pero en cautiverio pueden llegar a los 25 años. |

| There are about 40 different toucan species, all native to the American tropics. Their enormous bill can measure about a third of its body length. This bird feeds primarily on fruit, but also on insects, lizards, tree frogs, and eggs of other birds. They live in groups of up to 12 individuals, which are often seen hopping from branch to branch. While their lifespan in the wild is uncertain, they can live for up to 25 year in captivity. |
