| Pariente cercano de la Cojinuda Carbonera y el Chícharo Ojón, el Pámpano Palometa comparte el mismo color plateado, pero tiene un cuerpo aplanado desde los lados, aletas obscuras, y cola exageradamente bifurcada. Se les encuentra en aguas someras de fondo arenoso o sobre pastos marinos, donde cavan en busca de crustaceos y moluscos. Los más grandes pueden comer también cangrejos, caracoles y erizos. Pueden llegar a medir 1.2 metros y vivir hasta 23 años. |
| Closely related to the Bar Jack and the Big Eye Scad, the Permit has a silvery body that seems flattened from the sides, dark fins, and a distinctive deeply forked tailfin. Permits often are found in shallow waters over sandy or muddy areas, or along seagrass beds, where they dig up crustaceans and mollusks. Larger individuals may also feed on crabs, snails and sea urchins. They can grow to 1.2 m in length and live up to 23 years. |
